hello-from what i've seen from the pics, this looks like a complicated, but fun project. I was wondering how long did it take to build this car from start to finish?

No idea

Since it's been rebuilt so many times i completly lost track. It had one more major rebuild since those pics were taken (see the latest gallery - ultimate mustang).

Hi - the new car looks very nice, nicer than the old one. Out of curiosity - where do you get the wheel from? From the bolts I suspect that they are not standard Lego parts :)

Wheels

The wheels are standard r/c wheels for 1:8 scale road cars.
