1220 rpm inline 4

This 4 cylinder was the basis for the Mustang V8 engine. It was the first of my engines to exceed the 1000 rpm barrier. While it was a milestone, it is already obsolete, because i have switched to studless. The studless 4 cylinder runs way better and has 1420 rpms. This engine also has a tendancy to vibrate itself apart. But you will have fun running it anyway :)

Straight six

Is there a such thing as building a straight six from a I4?

Hard to find parts

Hi,
For a reference, the parts list for the inline 4 are here:
http://www.nicjasno.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=851

I need to find the following parts...in your parts list they are in column three from the left, starting from the third part down from the top of the page (right below the x10 axle). The part count downwards for these parts are: x1, x6 and x35.

The first one appears to be a Technic Brush 1/2 Toothed Type I. I am not sure what the others are and I am having so much trouble finding them. I am almost done gathering all the parts. Please help!

Thanks

parts

Ugh... don't bother with this engine, please. It's so dated, and requires parts gluing and it requires you to cut off a bit of the handle of the switches... Do not use this design. There's a much much better way of doing this, without any part modifications. Take a look at the lpepower engines, especially the V8 and you can see that half of the V8 would make a perfect inline 4 engine. Experiment a little.

The problem is that I have

The problem is that I have bought most of the parts for the I4. I have to start somewhere. So can you just tell me what those particular parts are? You don't have to detailed: a general part type name would do. I would appreciate it, thanks.

I would only consider switching to making half of the V8 but I already bought most of the stuff for the I4. As far as experimenting goes, I unfortunately have little time for this hobby so I can't dedicate all of my time to experimentation.

Edit: there are similar parts for the V8 on that site I linked. I suppose I can play around with the V8 instructions as they seem better...but then again I need to find those tiny parts and they are the only ones that seem hard to find. I would think they are called pins but I don't see them in that section on Bricklink.

Part

It's a toothed half bush. Old style. It's there, so you can glue the small teeth together with the clutch gears (tooth on tooth, not snapped inbetween). It's to make the timing equal on both sides of the throw.

Thank you

Thank you so much, now I can order the last parts and start building....

Thanks..........

I will try as soon as............

finding all these

hi i tried finding all these parts and i dont have nothing is there any where i can buy all these parts together because i dont have pistons, cross bars, oval things you need for cams and rod, chains, gears, ect.thanks

Parts

...

I have downloaded the file and definitely give it a try. Hope it will be fun and soon I'll give you my feedback also. Keep sharing dude. ...

Welll

where i can buy all these parts together because i dont have pistons, cross bars, oval things you need for cams and rod, chains, gears, ect.thanks

Parts

hi

were do i get the rpm meter from

re: hi

you can get it off of BrickLink.

Just One

Okay I have one cylinder, a load of tubes and one switch. I don't have any form of air compressor. Can someone tell me how to make a basic engine with one cylinder - is this possible? And also tell me how to use the coke bottle as air compressor - I am v. ignorant as you can see.
By the way this is amazing stuff.

One cilynder

Just build the 1 cilynder. Same as the inline in the instructions, but you stop building after the 1st cilynder. Then you need a flywheel, which you'll have to manually spinn, while applying some air pressure to the engine in order to get it started.

one cylinder engine

hey

i built a 1-cylinder engine and it works! i used a pull-start with a clutch to start the flywheel. it works!

im new

As the topic says, im new and i need help.. build this engine is awesome :)
can somone please tell me what i should buy and where to build a eninge like this?
Where can i find all those parts? and what does it cost?.
Is there any kits for this or something?

thanks in advanced.

Edit.. im been looking on almost all pic that you posted. I try to figure out what parts i need.
Can some nice guy make a list of parts that i need, and how many i just need from one part. <3 please

Great

I got to this site through google searches after i saw a video on youtube of a pneumatic engine.
I am now waiting for the parts for this i4.

I can't wait!!!!!

LDraw

Is there is LDraw file somewhere for this engine?

Nope

There isn't one. :(

Air

hy, i want to built such a thing, and i ordered all the pieces which are needed, but with which kind of compressed air do you get it run?

Compressor

I run it with an ordinary stationary air compressor with a 50l air tank. But it was reported that a normal coke bottle filled with air makes the engine run well too.

hi i tried finding all these

Yup

i have made this engine but

i have made this engine but it feels to tight and when i go to use it it blows the pipes off wb

Hm...

Before i can help, i need to know first: Does it run at all, and how fast does it run?
